THE HISTORY OF THE MOULIN DE FOURGES

In the aftermath of the French Revolution, the Mill, inspired by the Queen's hamlet in Versailles, stands proudly along the banks of the Epte, in the shadow of the neighboring castle, for which it produces flour.

At the end of the Second World War, the Defougères family turned it into a charming country inn, then with eleven bedrooms…and a single bathroom…The ideal place to enjoy rustic cuisine and have a good time in complete discretion.

In 1993, Jérôme Crépatte acquired it and brought the establishment up to date. No more rooms, place for gastronomy. Convinced of the attractiveness of the neighboring village of Giverny, the restaurant has made welcoming groups its major axis of development.
Then in March 2020, at the opening of the season, it is finally the closure that is essential. A strange virus is shaking up our certainties. We suddenly realize that a weekend in the countryside, an evening with friends, a family outing, is one of the “essential” things. On the strength of this observation, the Moulin decided to begin its transformation. Its ambition: to become a reference destination in terms of conviviality, rurality and authenticity.

At the dawn of the 2021 season, the first 9 suites proudly take their place in the mill, which many have known as a restaurant.
At the same time, the 300 m2 of the barn has changed its look and welcomes our new catering offer, which is available around a modern guinguette, a hotel bar with a cozy charm, a local shop to drink and eat, as well as ephemeral spaces, inside and in the gardens, for themed catering throughout the seasons.

In the future, the mill will become a real estate offering 20 additional rooms, a base for sporting and recreational activities, spaces for relaxation... culture, astonishment...
